Size guide
The right size is half the effect. Here are our guidelines — and the visualiser to check them at home.
The two-thirds rule
Above a sofa, bed or console, choose a piece (or a group) about two-thirds of the furniture’s width: 160 cm for a 240 cm sofa, 130 cm for a 200 cm bed.
Hanging height
On a bare wall, centre the piece at eye level, about 155 cm from the floor. Above furniture, leave 20 to 30 cm between the furniture and the bottom of the piece.
Formats
Portrait 2:3 or 3:4 for narrow walls and entrances; tall 9:16 for slim stretches of wall, between two windows or beside a door; square for groupings and small walls; landscape 3:2 or 4:3 above sofas, beds and consoles; panoramic 2:1 for long walls, above a headboard or a long sofa.
Personalised piece: which format?
Start from your photo: most smartphones shoot in 4:3, which gives a 3:4 portrait or a 4:3 landscape with nothing lost. Other formats crop the image, and the preview shows you the exact framing before you order. The larger the piece, the sharper the photo needs to be: see the resolution question in the FAQ.
Groupings & gallery walls
A group of pieces dresses a large wall lightly. Keep the spacing even, 3 to 5 cm between the panels of one work and 5 to 8 cm between different pieces, and centre the whole group as if it were a single piece. “Compose a wall” offers to-scale layouts with a shared finish.
